Living longer but fewer healthier years.
"We do not appear to be moving to a world where we due without experiencing disease, function loss and disability" says Dr. Eleen M. Crimmins, a professor of Gerontology at USC Leonard Davis School of Gerontology.
Prescription medications can be incredibly beneficial, but they also come with some disadvantages and potential risk. There is a risk of overusing or misusing prescription medications, which can lead to serious health issues, including addiction and dependency. Many prescription drugs have side effects, which can range from mild (e.g., nausea, dizziness) to severe (e.g., liver damage, heart problems). People respond differently to medications, and what works well for one person may not work for another, requiring trial and error to find the right treatment. Prescription drugs can be expensive, and not all insurance plans cover the full cost, making them financially burdensome for some patients.
People who are looking for a more natural approach to health, are turning to medicinal herbs as an alternative to prescription drugs. It's important to discuss these potential advantages, as well as any disadvantages with your healthcare provider to make informed decisions about your treatment plan.
