It was offend used to stimulate secretion of gastric juices and saliva, to increase appetite and facilitate digestion. Also said to stimulate the flow of bile. It is a common ingredient in combination formulas for gastric health. It may have antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that can prevent infections and reduce swelling.
